Trauma Insurance / Diagnosis Insurance
Trauma Insurance / Diagnosis Insurance
Trauma Insurance cover provides a lump sum upon DIAGNOSIS of a critical illness and similar diseases. It is not dependant on whether it is a major case, or a minor case, and it is not dependent upon death. It is paid upon DIAGNOSIS of one of the specificed illnesses, including things like cancer, heart attack, stroke etc.
Trauma insurance, sometimes called Critical Illness Insurance, is designed to give you money when you need it most. Whilst it is more expensive than other personal insurances, it is the one that’s most claimed upon and that’s reflected in the premiums! An example of this – if you were to suffer from a critical illness such as cancer and were to be off work for a couple of years for treatment and recovery, your life insurance would not pay out for the obvious reason that you are still alive and your TPD insurance would not pay out because you will return to work one day, but your trauma insurancewould give you that lump sum payment to ease the financial pressures of not working.
Payment is also made regardless of whether you are prevented from working or not. It is available either as a standalone cover, or can be packaged in conjunction with Life Insurance (Death cover), or Total and Permanent Disability (TPD) Insurance.
This type of cover is particularly important because of the statistical chances of any one of us being affected by one of these major medical conditions, prior to dying. The associated medical costs, relating to the treatments and rehabilitation of such a condition, are enormous. The result of such a diagnosis can be not only life threatening, but also life changing.
Trauma Insurance, or Critical Illness insurance, sits outside death cover, and in between Total and Permanent Disability (TPD) Insurance and Income Protection Insurance. You may be diagnosed with Cancer for example, and need the relevant treatment, but you may not be ill enough to be deemed to be unable to work for very long, and you certainly are not necessarily medically defined as TPD.
Trauma Insurance pays a lump sum payment which is not dependant upon TPD nor not unable to work, and of course “you do not have to die to collect” !!!!
With Trauma Insurance or Critical Illness Insurance, the lump sum payment is the amount decided upon, by yourself, within your original application for the Trauma Cover. It is the “sum insured”.
